Bricks by the Banks had a monstrous Lego set up that was extremely impressive. The 501st was there holding off the Star Wars Zone which included a large Dewback and Stormtrooper combo for you to snag some photos of. There were 31 comic dealers, 4 cosplay guests, 24 more comic book guests, 22 toy vendors, and so much more. Over in the vendor side, it was a mix of various things for sale along with additional artists. I can’t wait to read some of the things I picked up such as Impureblood Comics, Scott Comics, Lauren Jankowski’s novel, Stache Publishing, Mike Leon’s KILL KILL KILL (which he referred to as the most offensive novel ever), and several more who I loved hearing their stories. I met some incredibly talented indie creators while I was there. Moving through the convention, Artist Alley was next which included 64 artists, writers and studios all trying to buy your love or get love and money.

Plus the guy handling Neal said, “Neal was the biggest guest there,” which seemed like a bit of an overstatement. Drop the price about ten dollars a print and you’ll see more sales, at least from me. Honestly, his booth was huge and he was selling prints for way too much money. I had heard that he was really expensive for an autograph and that proved correct. Neal Adams was my last big stop and I didn’t bother trying to get anything signed from him.

Granted, he worked on the movie so it was not surprising that he said that about his baby. He did think the first Iron Man movie was the best comic origin film ever. Its hard not to understand his point, but characters have to grow. He told me it was like watching you children being raped in front of your eyes. I asked Bob if he has read any of the more recent Iron Man series. If you don’t know Bob then you really don’t know Iron Man, as he has worked on the fan favorite story line Demon In A Bottle. You can really tell how proud he is of his Titans. Marv has been working scripts for tons of things including the animated Teen Titans. Definitely the high point of the convention. George mentioned he enjoyed drawing the panels in-between the chapters. Personally, he signed my copy of Incredible Hulk: What Savage Beast, which is a novel written by Peter David. George was humble and enjoying the fact that everyone still loves him for his art. He does sketches for people for a nominal fee. George sat at his table all day Saturday. George is the person I wanted to see and meet again. I arrived at 10 AM and didn’t get to talk to him until 3 PM. George Perez was next on the list and had this really awesome ticket system in place where you could take a ticket and come back later after enjoying some of the show. He did talk to the line about his up-coming Hulk story line which he really enjoyed discussing without giving too much away. He had a signing schedule which was nice for the crowd. The years seemed to bitter him just a tad. I had seen Bagley twenty years ago at a Mid-Ohio Con.

Leading right into my favorite part of the convention was the many comic legends on hand, which included Mark Bagley, Bob Layton, Marv Wolfman, Neal Adams, and George Perez to name a few. The only time the place seemed cramped was when the lines for the concessions backed into the show floor. It provided ample space for Artist Alley, exhibitors, entertainment guests and the numerous comic legends. The show floor was broken up into sections.
